Internet is a big part of any business. With the increase in cloud technologies and people being on the go, you need to have an adequate internet connection to do most any job. But how to know when it’s time to make sure you have an optimal internet solution? Below are some questions that may help you answer that! Depending on your answer, it may be time for you to make the leap and upgrade your current set up.

1. Do you have a need to set up a guest Wi-Fi for your customers, but currently don’t? Complimentary Wi-fi for customers and clients may be a nice feature for your business, depending on what line of work your in. Making sure you have a separated network for guests is also key to protecting your network, but you’ll need the right setup to do so.

2. How old is your current internet hardware? Have you had your router or your access points for a while? If you’re experiencing any downtime, you may want to check and see how old your hardware is.

3. Are you planning on expanding your employee count? If you’re looking to expand your business, you’ll want to make sure you have enough bandwidth to handle additional connections. New employees means adding more computers, phones, tablets and just over all users.

4. Are you plan on moving to more cloud based applications? Cloud based applications need a good, solid internet connection to run. If your internet connection is flakey, you jeopardize your business being able to run on our applications.

5. Do you have dead spots in your office where Wi-fi isn’t available? Nobody wants to be in the back office where the internet barely reaches. It may be that you need additional wireless access points, or your network needs to be reconfigured.

6. Does your internet tend to go out often? If you have a business in an area where there may not be a strong infrastructure, you may want to look into a back up internet solution that’s reliable.

7. Are your backups cloud based? You’ll need to make sure you have a strong internet connection if your data is being backed up to a cloud service. If you have to recovery your data, your recovery time will be dependent on your internet connection.

8.  Do your employees have a lot of video conferences or use other streaming platforms? We all know we don’t want to be that person on the video call that freezes. If your business doesn’t video calls often, you’ll want to make sure you have a good internet connection.
